BIO
BRAD COOK is an Australian modern blues artist with a distinct psychedelic classic rock edge.
Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Brad’s passion for music and the guitar ignited early in life. He was introduced to legendary artists like Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan, David Bowie, Elvis Presley, The Doors, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, and many more. These icons left a lasting imprint on his musical soul.
At 17, Brad picked up the guitar and, within just six months, was already performing in cover bands across some of Sydney’s rawest and most rock-infused venues—even while still underage.
By 19, hungry to take his playing to the next level, he began guitar lessons with iconic Australian guitarist Dave Leslie of Baby Animals. Dave became a significant influence and remains a close friend to this day.
As his love for music deepened, Brad began writing original material. These songs laid the foundation for his first recording project, SMOTHER. The band hit the road in a 22-seater bus, touring Australia non-stop for three years and supporting major Australian acts, including Jimmy Barnes. Eventually, the band relocated to Melbourne, where Brad continued to write, record, and perform with them. Over nearly 15 years with SMOTHER, he released three independent recordings and played at some of the country’s top venues before the band eventually parted ways.
Eager to stay immersed in the scene, Brad dove into Melbourne’s vibrant music circuit, auditioning for several original bands—including Electric Mary. He ultimately joined the established rock outfit The Eternal, spending three years performing live, supporting acts like Uriah Heep and Amorphis, and contributing to three releases:
-
When The Circle Of Light Begins To Fade (2013)
-
Sombre Light 2014 (Anniversary EP)
-
Circle Of Live (CD/DVD, 2015)
In 2018, Brad began writing music with no particular project in mind—a deeply personal process that helped him navigate some challenging times. Though initially never intended for release, these songs revealed themselves to be the most honest and heartfelt he had ever written.
By 2019, Brad committed to recording them as a solo artist. The process was anything but easy, marked by many obstacles—but he persisted.
In 2020, his debut solo EP TIME TO FLY was finally released. A culmination of passion, grit, and determination, Brad played guitar and sang on every track, pouring his heart into every note.
With blazing retro guitar tones and powerful classic rock energy, TIME TO FLY is a testament to Brad Cook’s deep love for blues and psychedelic rock—a modern voice rooted in timeless sound.
TIME TO FLY is available through all main streaming platforms, and on official his website www.brad-cook.com
