BIO
BRAD COOK is an Australian Modern Blues Artist, with a Psychedelic Classic Rock twist.

Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Brad Cook’s love for music and the guitar started at an early age when introduced to the likes of Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan, David Bowie, Elvis Presley, The Doors, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, and many more classics all having a huge influence on him.

He gravitated to the guitar at the age of 17, and within 6 months of learning, though underage, he was performing in working cover bands throughout some of Sydney’s grittiest and rockiest venues.
At the age of 19, he felt the need to advance on the guitar and began taking guitar lessons with iconic Australian Guitarist Dave Leslie of Baby Animals, who is a massive influence on his playing and has remained close friends with him to this day.

His love for music grew passionately, and he began writing songs, which ended up becoming music for his very first recording act ‘SMOTHER’. He toured around Australia in a 22-seater bus for 3 years straight in SMOTHER, supporting some of Australia’s biggest Musical Acts including Jimmy Barnes. At the end of that lengthy tour, he relocated to Melbourne, Australia with the band and continued to write, record and perform with them. After being in Smother for nearly 15 years, releasing three independent recordings and performing in some of the biggest venues around Australia, he found himself without a band.

He decided to throw himself out there into the thriving Melbourne band scene, and auditioned in some great original bands, including Electric Mary. He ended up joining established Melbourne band “The Eternal” and had a three-year stint with them that included many live performances, support spots with Uriah Heep and Amorphis, and released three recordings with the band - When The Circle Of Light Begins To Fade (2013), Sombre Light 2014 (Anniversary EP 2014), Circle Of Live CD / DVD (2015)

In 2018 he decided to start writing songs without a project in mind. This process was to help him navigate through some hard times. These songs were never meant to see the light of day. But something deep inside of him made him realise that these were the truest songs that he had ever written.

So in 2019, he committed to recording these songs with the idea to release them as a solo project. The recording process saw its fair share of obstacles and challenges, but he pushed on.

2020 will finally see the release of his first solo EP recording called “TIME TO FLY”. This new EP is the result of a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears. He performed and sang on the entire record, striving to deliver the love and passion he has for music into every song.

With its blistering retro guitar prowess and powerful classic rock overtones, it definitely highlights his love and passion for the blues and psychedelic rock music.

TIME TO FLY is available through all main streaming platforms, and on official his website www.brad-cook.com
